The existing five-storey car park was originally built in the late 1930s and is one of the oldest multi-storey car parks in Britain. It had fallen into disrepair over the years and as part of the Talbot Gateway scheme has been refurbished to provide 600 parking spaces in a modern, safe and accessible environment that meets the National Park Mark standard. Improvements to the multi-storey car park included:

•  Replacement of the existing cladding with structural glass cladding
•  Concrete repairs and the introduction of new lifts and stair cores to entrances on Deansgate and Talbot Road
•  An attendant’s office for added security
•  22,000 sq ft retail at ground floor level
